The Unión Nacional de Avicultores originated from the Union of Associations of Mexican Poultry Producers created on April 24th, 1958, and made up by 25 local poultry producer’s associations in the Country.

  • Jalisco: Arandas, Lagos de Moreno, Ciudad Guzmán, Encarnación Díaz, Sayula, Guadalajara.
  • Guanajuato: Uriangato, León, Acámbaro;
  • Michoacán: Morelia, Jiquilpa, Uruapan.
  • Tamaulipas: Reynosa, Ciudad Victoria.
  • Sonora: Valle del Yaqui, Hermosillo.
  • Hidalgo: Tula;
  • Baja California: Tijuana;
  • Región Lagunera
  • Puebla: Puebla.
  • San Luis Potosí: San Luis Potosí
  • Nuevo León: Monterrey
  • Chihuahua: Chihuahua
  • Tamaulipas: Reynosa, Ciudad Victoria.
  • Nuevo León: Monterrey
  • • Federal District: Mexico City and the Congreso Nacional de Avicultura (National Poultry Production Congress).

That original organization weakened over time due to the lack of interest by poultry producers. It was then when the Federal Government headed by President Adolfo López Mateos participated in the re-organization of Poultry Producers’ Associations issuing a Decree on April 27th, 1962, whereby the Bylaws of the Livestock Associations Act were issued. In 90 days as of that day, the local Poultry Producers’ Associations were to be re-organized; thus after 180 days, the Unión Nacional de Avicultores was constituted.

The first Associations to be organized were: Guadalajara, Tepatitlán, Sayula, Colima, Ciudad Guzmán, Texcoco, Salvatierra, Acámbaro, Irapuato, León, Lagos de Moreno, San Luis Potosí, Yuriria, Uriangato, Moroleón, Puruándiro, Uruapan, Purépero, Jacona, Sahuayo, Pénjamo, Querétaro, Tlazozalca and Chavinda.

The Unión Nacional de Avicultores was legally formed on November 27th, 1962. UNA’s First Board of Directors was formed by:

  • President: Mr. Carlos Cruz González
  • Secretary: Manuel Garcés Téllez Girón
  • Treasurer: Mr. Antonio S. Sánchez.
  • Committee Members: Adolfo Martínez, Ernesto Camacho García, Rubén J. Pedrero, Sindronio López Valdivia, Ramón Uribe Fourcade, Pedro N. García, Dr. Francisco Estrada Viesca and J. Santos Gutiérrez.

The Surveillance Committee was formed by:

  • President: Mr. Rafael Dávila Reyes
  • Secretary: Dr. Javier Flores Orozco, Committee Member: Alfonso Martínez Arceo.

The delegates before the National Livestock Confederation were:

  • Principals: Mr. Carlos Cruz González and Mr. Nefthali Gómez Gil B.
  • Alternates: Bernardo Valdes Basañez and Fernando Cruz Díaz.
